Can I Clone an External SSD to My Internal SSD?

I recently switched from console gaming to PC and removed my Samsung 980 Pro SSD from my PS5. I got an enclosure to clone the drives, but the 980 Pro doesn't fit because of its heatsink. However, my other drive, a WD Green, fits perfectly. My plan is to install a fresh copy of Windows on the 980 Pro and then clone my WD Green SSD onto it. Will this work if I clone the WD Green externally without messing things up on the internal 980 Pro? I'm a bit of a novice, so I appreciate any advice!

It sounds like you’re on the right track! You can definitely clone your WD Green SSD to the Samsung 980 Pro while it’s in the internal slot. Just make sure you’re using reliable cloning software. The key thing is that your system will recognize the 980 Pro as a target drive, and as long as you’re careful during the cloning process, it should work fine. Just back up any important data first, just in case!
