I recently created a few EC2 instances while I was learning AWS, but I stopped them instead of deleting them. I just noticed that I was being charged $1.60 each month since November 2024. Now that I've terminated those instances, I'm wondering if I can get a refund by contacting customer service. Also, does anyone have the contact details for live AWS billing support, like an email or phone number?

You should definitely reach out to AWS Support about this! You can create a support case through their Support Center. They can look into your situation and might be willing to offer a refund since you were still learning and didn’t mean to incur those charges.
Most likely, you'll get a refund if you ask—think of it as a courtesy refund. AWS doesn’t want to put a student in a tough spot over $1.60. Just make sure you explain what happened!
I’d say no to a refund. You used the resources, so you are generally liable for the charges. But, you’re lucky it was only $10. Try to keep track of your usage moving forward!
Most probably, no refund will be given. Just learn from this experience and consider exploring Docker for your future projects as it can really help you understand cloud architecture better.
Just a heads-up, if you’re still being charged, it could be for resources like EBS volumes linked to those instances, not just the compute time. Double-check your bill before contacting support!
