I just got a new PC with a 1TB SSD, but I'm worried it might fill up quickly. I'm considering adding a second SSD with 2TB to install Linux on it, as I heard Linux is less bloated than Windows. Is it easy to do this? Also, which Linux version is best for gaming?

Yes, it’s quite easy. Just swap out your Windows SSD for the Linux SSD, install Linux, and then put the Windows SSD back in. When you boot up, you'll be able to choose which system to run. For gaming, I recommend Pop!_OS or Linux Mint; they both perform well.
Wait, the computer will just ask which one to boot? That sounds too good to be true. Has it really improved that much?
Absolutely, you can install Linux on a second SSD without any problems. I've been using Linux Mint for gaming and general use, and it works well for me. Some folks recommend Arch-based distros like CachyOS for a better experience, but those might be a bit tricky for beginners.
I've heard that Arch-based distros can be tough for newbies. But thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the suggestion!
Sure, you can definitely do it. I recommend trying Bazzite for gaming since it's quite user-friendly for beginners. LMDE is okay, but Bazzite might offer a better experience for games.
I've heard some games don’t work on Linux; I’ll definitely check ProtonDB!
Check out our installation tips in the wiki! It’s recommended to install over an ethernet connection, and remember to remove the boot media after installation. Good luck!
If you're looking for a good gaming distro, consider Chimera; it's designed for gaming. Just make sure to check ProtonDB for game compatibility, as not all games run well on Linux.
Why Chimera? What makes it great for gaming?
Thanks for clarifying, it sounds pretty straightforward!
