Hey everyone! I've got a Google Home that I bought a long time ago, and it's just sitting around. I was thinking it would be cool to turn it into a white noise machine for my brother to help him sleep. I'd prefer if it weren't powered by Google's software but rather my own setup. Is there a way to achieve this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I'm not sure about a full jailbreak, but I’ve heard some projects suggest installing a custom PCB to modify it. That said, it might be too complicated for just making white noise! Have you thought about just casting white noise from your phone to it? It could be an easier solution.
I don't really know of any methods to replace the software completely. One option could be to turn off the microphone and use the Google Home as a remote speaker for another device like your phone or computer. That way, you can control what plays without relying on Google’s system!
Honestly, I've never come across a straightforward way to jailbreak a Google Home. But if you're just looking for white noise, I think using your phone to stream directly might save you a lot of headaches compared to trying to modify the device itself!
