Can I Mix a New RAM Pair with an Old Stick?

I recently lost one of my RAM sticks and I'm planning to buy a new pair to meet my work needs. However, I have some concerns about how mixing these three sticks will affect performance. Here are my specific questions:

1. Do the new RAM sticks need to match the 3200MHz speed of my existing stick for everything to work properly?
2. It seems like there's a preferred way to slot RAM sticks together (like pairs in specific slots), so if I put the old stick in the second slot, can I place one new stick in the fourth and the other in the first without issues?
3. I'm thinking of getting a 64GB kit (2x32GB). My current stick is 16GB. Will pairing them cause problems, or will it risk damaging the old or new sticks? My motherboard supports up to 96GB, so I want to maximize my setup.

You'll be fine in terms of speed, as the RAM will run at the lowest speed of the two kits, which should be your current 3200MHz. The first 64GB will run in dual channel, and if the 16GB kick in, it'll run in single channel. No risk of breaking anything here!

So as long as the 32GB sticks are in slots 1 and 4, it should work fine, right? Just making sure I'm on the right track!
