I'm looking to upgrade my RAM from 16GB to 32GB. Right now, I have 16GB of RAM split into 2x8GB modules with timings of CL16-20-20-38. I've just bought another set of 2x8GB modules, but they have different timings of CL18-22-22-42. Can I use both sets together, or should I just get a completely new kit?

Mixing RAM with different timings can be tricky. It's generally not recommended because it might cause stability issues. Even if both sets work together, they'll likely default to the lower speed and higher latency of the new sticks. If you can, find the same model RAM as your existing kit, as mixing different models can lead to headaches down the line.

What if the same model is out of stock? Should I just go for a single kit then?
