Hey everyone! I'm gearing up for the DP-100 exam (Azure Data Scientist Associate) in about two weeks. I have a couple of questions I'd love your insights on:
1. Do you think it's possible to pass the exam without first completing the Azure Fundamentals certification?
2. Is it necessary to have an Azure subscription to prepare effectively for the exam?
Just to give you a bit of background, I have 3 years of experience as a Data Scientist, a Master's in Data Analytics, and I've previously worked with Azure services in an AI Engineer role for about 4 months. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I just passed the DP-100! I don’t think the fundamentals are necessary – maybe AI-900 could help a bit, but not crucial. I focused on doing MeasureUp practice exams and targeted my study on my weaker areas, which worked well for me!
I’ve completed all the fundamentals, including passing the AI-102 on my first try. AZ-900 gave me a solid base that helped me out since I wasn't super familiar with Azure. Given your background, I think you should be good to go without it.
Thanks! Did you use the Learn pathway to get ready for the exam?
Hey there! I’m also studying for the DP-100 right now. You absolutely can pass the exam without the AZ-900 Azure Fundamentals exam, but it might help to have some familiarity with Azure.
Regarding the subscription, you’ll need it to engage with the Azure-related tasks on the exam. However, you can sign up for a free Azure account, which gives you some credits to get started. Also, check out the practice assessments on Microsoft's site – they can really help you gauge your prep! And I personally use MeasureUp for extra practice, which is pretty close to the real exam format. Good luck!
Thanks for the detailed response! Good luck with your exam.
To answer your first question, yes, you can pass the exam without having done the Azure Fundamentals certification, but having that knowledge will be super beneficial. As for the second question, I'd say it’s tough to prepare fully without an Azure subscription. The exam tests actual usage of the products, so hands-on experience is key!
Thanks! I got the Azure subscription.
Congrats!
