I'm looking to upgrade my 1TB M.2 SSD to a larger one. My motherboard only has one M.2 slot, so I was planning to just swap out the SSD. I'm not worried about losing any data, as I mainly use it for gaming and can easily redownload my games. Do I need to do anything special to get Windows and my software back after the swap, or is it straightforward?

SATA SSDs are a good choice! They're quite similar in speed for most tasks, especially for gaming. If you haven't used one before, they're really plug and play; just check out some tutorials if you need help.
Swapping the SSD is generally straightforward! Just remember that you'll need to reinstall Windows on the new drive along with all your software. It’s not too painful, but can take some time if you have lots of programs to reinstall.
If you just want extra storage, consider picking up an additional SATA SSD. They work great for games and are usually pretty easy to install. Just make sure to keep your frequently played games on your NVMe for the best performance.
