Hey folks! I'm not super tech-savvy, so I could use some guidance. I had a custom PC built about 7 years ago, and it's really slowed down lately. I'm planning to get a new PC but I'm curious if I can reuse any parts from my old one, like RAM or anything else. Below are the specs of my old setup:

- Black ATX Tower Case
- Motherboard with Integrated HD Sound
- 10/100/1000 Ethernet
- Internal Card Reader 50-in-1
- AMD Heatsink & Fan
- Asus 24x DVD/CD Re-Writer/Reader
- Wireless Network Card 300Mbps
- 480GB SSD SATA-III
- 3TB Seagate HDD (which has failed)
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
- Corsair 16GB Vengeance LPX RAM
- AMD Ryzen 5 2600

The PC was mainly for everyday use and I play Old School RuneScape on it. Is there a good website to check for compatible parts with what I might salvage? Thanks a bunch!

You can definitely modernize your setup! You might be able to swap the CPU, GPU, and maybe even the SSD. Just be sure to check the PSU's power rating to see if it can support a new setup, especially if you're considering a stronger GPU.

Getting a new GPU might be overkill since OSRS can run on pretty much anything. Just a thought!

If you mostly play OSRS, you might not even need a new PC. Swapping in a newer SSD to replace the failed HDD and reinstalling Windows could make a big difference. It’s possible your system is slow due to software clutter rather than hardware issues!

Repasting your CPU’s thermal paste could also help with performance. It’s a simple fix that might improve heat management!

I totally agree! You could get a small M.2 SSD just for Windows; it’ll speed things up a ton!
