Can I Safely Dual Boot Linux and Windows on the Same SSD?

I'm thinking about giving Linux a shot, but my laptop has a 512GB SSD with Windows already installed. I don't want to wipe everything just to try Linux out—I'm considering dual booting. However, I've heard it can be a bit tricky, and I've had issues in the past when I tried this on an older PC, which caused Windows to fail to boot and made it impossible to install Linux. If anyone has a good guide, especially on YouTube, please share! I'm leaning towards Linux Mint for gaming, but I'm open to other suggestions.

One of the main worries with dual booting is that Windows could overwrite the Linux bootloader during updates, which would stop Linux from booting. Reinstalling the bootloader isn't too complicated, but it can be a bit nerve-wracking if you're doing it for the first time. Just be prepared for that!

I actually have Bazzite running on my 500GB SSD with Windows 11, and I’ve had no booting issues in the few months since I installed it. Honestly, I’m starting to think about replacing Windows with a different distro for some experimentation!
