I'm curious if it's okay to watch a video file while it's being copied from one device to another, like from my computer to an external hard drive. Are there any risks to doing this, or is it generally safe?

You can definitely watch the video from where it’s being copied from, but just keep in mind that you won’t be able to play it from the new location until the transfer is complete. It’s usually safe to do both at the same time, but I’m curious why you were worried about it.
I wouldn’t stress too much about it! The main thing is that copying takes some bandwidth, so if your video stutters while playing, it might just be the file transfer slowing things down. Otherwise, it should be fine to watch.
