Hey everyone, I'm really eager to get back into gaming after a tough time lately. I have a bunch of old PC components that I'm thinking of moving into a bigger case because my current one feels a little cramped. However, my graphics card used to cause shutdown issues in my setup. So, I'm hoping to find out if I can simply swap all my old parts into this new tower without any issues.

Yeah, you can definitely do it as long as your parts aren't from a brand like Dell or HP which often use proprietary components. If your parts are standard, like ATX components, you should be good to go!

If your setup is from the last 20 years, you should be okay since the ATX standard hasn’t changed much. Just make sure everything fits properly and check all connections before you power it up.

In your case, since you mentioned that you built it in 2018, that sounds promising! If the PC keeps powering off, it might not be the case at all. It could be a loose graphics card or even a CPU issue. Have you checked those?

Yeah, definitely check that graphics card! Sometimes it just needs to be reseated to fix those random shutdowns.

It totally depends on the parts! If they’re standard components you bought separately, you should be fine. Just keep an eye out for those big OEM brands since they can have weird setups that don’t play nice with new cases.
