Hey everyone! I'm trying to transform my PS4 Pro into a Linux (or even Windows) PC. I've got a 1TB hard drive ready, but I'm not sure where to start. I've watched a bunch of videos, but they haven't really helped with the actual installation process or where to put the files. Any tips on how to get this done?

If your PS4 is on version 7.02 or earlier, it can be jailbroken, which is a requirement for turning it into a Linux PC. The catch is that newer firmware updates might lock you out of this option. Just be aware that jailbreaking could potentially get your console banned from PSN, but many users haven't faced issues with it.

You should check out some resources like this [helpful page](http://www.reddit.com/r/linux4noobs/wiki/faq). It can provide insights and guides based on your specific situation. Also, Smokey’s advice: always back up your data, play around in a virtual machine first, and make sure you understand commands before executing them.

Most likely, your PS4 has been updated to a version that isn't jailbreakable anymore. There aren't any known exploits for recent firmware. So, unless you're comfortable taking risks or dealing with potential bans, it might not be worth the effort.

One option is to sell your PS4 Pro and use that cash to buy a used computer. It might end up being easier and more versatile for your needs. But if you're set on using the PS4, just keep in mind that it might not be straightforward to install something like Linux on it, especially with firmware issues.
