I recently built a PC with an 850W power supply, and it came with a 16A plug. However, the only 16A socket in my house is in the kitchen, and I obviously can't set up my PC there. I'm in India, so I have a different type of plug than what my home sockets require. I'm faced with a few choices and need some advice:
1. Should I buy a new 6A power cable for my PC? Will that work instead of the 16A cable?
2. Alternatively, would a 16A to 6A converter be a good idea? I'm worried about the safety of my PC and don't want to risk damaging it on the first day.
3. If I do need a new cable, where should I buy it?
Thanks for any help!

Don't sweat about the 16A plug. Your PSU won't need it; it will only demand what it requires – about 4A at 230V, which is well within the range of 6A circuits. Just make sure whatever you plug into has adequate ratings!
Just a heads up for peace of mind: If you have an older power cable that fits the PSU perfectly, it should be fine to use as long as it’s not under-gauged. Your laptop charger cable working is a good sign, but keep an eye on it while gaming if you do stress it more than before!
It's totally fine to use a higher-rated cable like the 16A one with your PC. A cable's amperage rating indicates the maximum it can handle, so using a cable that can handle more is safe as long as you aren't drawing too much power. Just ensure the connections are snug, and you should be good to go!
You can definitely use that 16A power cable; your PSU won't even come close to pulling that much power. An 850W power supply at 230V, which is what you have in India, will draw about 4A. So, you're fine going with what you have! Just make sure it fits into the socket properly.
Yeah, and if you're still worried, you could grab a power meter to check the max draw. It'll help you see if there are any spikes when you start it up.
Considering the 850W rating, your setup will use around 4A at 230V. So, no worries about needing to stick to a 16A socket; your PSU is good with lower-rated connections! Just ensure your adapter or 6A cable is high-quality and grounded properly.

Exactly! It's like using a big hose to water your garden; it'll work just fine if your plants don’t need that much water.
