I have a bit of a dilemma for a university assignment where I need to use the Lockdown Browser, but there's no native Linux version available. I've managed to install the Windows version using both WINE and Bottles, but to actually access it, I need to open a link provided via email in another browser. Unfortunately, I'm using Linux Mint, and after trying Firefox and Brave, they installed fine but won't launch. Are there any browsers that can successfully run within WINE or Bottles?

I’ve had some success using Chrome and Firefox in WINE, but you need to download the Windows versions first. If that doesn't work, I'd recommend checking the WineHQ database for browser compatibility. Mozilla Firefox might run—just look for the applications that have Gold or Silver status there for a better chance.
Honestly, I’d suggest just installing Windows for the Lockdown Browser. Messing around with workarounds could lead to your university thinking you're trying to cheat, and that's not worth the risk of failing a class. If you really don’t want to install Windows, maybe check if you can take the test on computers at the library.
From what I’ve seen, getting Lockdown Browser to work in Linux, even with a virtual machine, can be tricky since it’s designed to detect if it’s running in a non-Windows environment. You might find it easier to dual boot with Windows or even use a spare laptop just for running this.
