Can I Use an NVMe SSD with a SATA Port?

I have two NVMe SSDs, but my motherboard only has one NVMe slot available. Is it possible to connect the second NVMe SSD to a SATA port? I've heard about some adapters, but I'm unsure if they actually work or if it's even possible to do this. Any insights would be appreciated!

You can't connect an NVMe SSD directly to a SATA port using an adapter. Those M.2 to SATA adapters only support M.2 SATA drives, not NVMe. If you want to use your second NVMe SSD, you might need a PCIe adapter that can fit in an available PCIe slot on your motherboard.

Adapters do exist, but just a heads up: NVMe and SATA are separate protocols and not directly compatible. You’ll need the right kind of adapter to connect your NVMe SSD to a PCIe slot instead.
