Hey everyone, I'm thinking about upgrading my GPU and found a 4070 Super for just £30 more than a 3080ti. Since the 4070 is newer and more efficient, I'm leaning towards that. I've had my current 500W power supply for 10 years, and it's never let me down, so I'd rather not replace it unless absolutely necessary. I don't play the latest AAA games and mainly struggle with VR in Assetto Corsa when servers get busy. Do you think my 500W PSU is enough for the 4070 Super, or should I invest in a new 750W or 850W power supply for future-proofing?

Honestly, I'd recommend against using a 10-year-old power supply. Even if it's still working, components can degrade over time, which might lead to issues with a new GPU. It's better to be safe and invest in a new one.
A 10-year-old PSU, even a powerful one, can be risky. New hardware requires stable power, so I'd suggest upgrading to at least a 750W unit for peace of mind, especially if you plan to keep it for a while.
I’m not an expert on PSUs, but I guess a new one is in my future based on what everyone is saying.
The 4070 Super peaks around 250W, so if your PSU is from a reliable brand and your CPU is not too power-hungry, you might be okay with your current 500W. But make sure it’s good quality and check if you have any extra lights or other components drawing power.
I have a Ryzen 7 3700X with RGB lighting, and while it works fine, I'm wondering if that’ll push it over the edge.

I get that, but my PSU is still running like a champ. Just wanted to see if it’s really a must to change it before making a decision.
