Hey everyone! I'm building a new PC since my old processor can't run Windows 11 anymore, so I'm reusing parts from my old setup. I've got a new motherboard, processor, DDR5 RAM, and a cooler ready to go!
The motherboard has two connectors for CPU power, but my power supply only has one. It can handle up to 600 watts, which should be sufficient for my setup, which includes the CPU, GPU, and SSDs. I'm not planning to overclock my CPU or GPU.
Is it okay to just use one of the CPU power connectors for now? I did some research and it seems like it shouldn't be a problem as long as I don't push the CPU to its limits, but I found most of the advice was a bit dated. What are your thoughts?

Make sure to check your motherboard manual! Usually, they specify that you only need to connect one CPU power cable and the second one is just for extra power, often meant for overclocking or high-performance CPUs.
Yeah, I noticed MSI's manual is a bit vague. They show the connectors well, but it's unclear about using both. It sounds like the extra connector is mostly a feature for those really pushing their CPUs, huh?
