Can Malware Affect My Speakers?

Hey everyone! I'm wondering if it's possible for malware to mess with external speakers. I downloaded a private server app for a game, and when my PC froze, I had to force it off. After restarting, my internet was acting up, but I found a tutorial about proxy settings that fixed that issue. Now, however, my USB speakers (they're Bose and a bit older) are not being detected by my PC, even though I hear them powering on. Any suggestions on what might be going wrong?

First off, can you share more about the private server you downloaded? What exactly is the server for? And what 'proxy stuff' did you end up using? Additional details could help figure out the problem.

Sorry for the vagueness! I used "YuukiPS" for Genshin Impact and changed some settings via inetcpl.cpl in the 'Internet Properties' to sort the network issue.

I get that you're worried! Since this is the first time your speakers have acted up, could there have been a certificate or something shady installed with that server app? It’s always safer to be cautious with unknown downloads.

Speakers are generally just hardware that shouldn't be affected by malware directly, unless there's some weird driver issue. Check your device manager to see if your speakers show up there. If not, maybe there's interference or a loose connection?
