I'm considering making the jump from Windows to Linux full-time, specifically Ubuntu, and I want to know if my 2012 laptop can handle it. Windows is running really slow and I feel like I'm not utilizing my RAM effectively. Here are my laptop specs:
- CPU: Intel Core i5-2450M
- RAM: 8GB
- Storage: 120GB SSD and a 500GB HDD

If Ubuntu isn't a good fit, I'm open to other easy-to-use Linux distributions that feel familiar. Thanks for any advice!

Ubuntu Cinnamon should work well on your laptop. It's a solid choice for transitioning from Windows, though I personally lean towards Mint Cinnamon, which is based on Ubuntu. Either way, you should be in good hands!

According to the requirements, you should have no trouble running Ubuntu. Your Intel i5 CPU and 8GB of RAM exceed the minimum specs for a smooth experience. If you install it on the SSD, you'll definitely notice improvements over your current Windows setup! Good luck with the transition!

Your laptop specs are more than enough to run any Linux distro, including Ubuntu. You might actually find it performs better than Windows! Just keep in mind to not overload it with too many browser tabs or apps at once.
