Can My 9060 XT 8GB Handle 1440p Gaming?

I built my PC a few years ago with a Ryzen 5 5600X, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, and an RX580. Unfortunately, my GPU recently died, and since I need my PC for work, I found a used 9060 XT 8GB for just 190 euros and it's been great so far. My monitor, however, has an issue, and I'm looking to replace it. I found a good deal on a 32" 1440p IPS monitor and I'm wondering whether my GPU can effectively run games at 1440p, or if I should stick with a 1080p monitor instead.

Make sure to check benchmarks for the games you enjoy. The 9060 XT can run decent settings, but if you enable FSR or adjust texture settings, you can improve performance. It should manage alright, but newer single-player games might be tougher unless you lower the quality a bit.

Seems like a solid plan. I’ll give that a shot, thanks!

While the 9060 XT can work for 1440p, newer AAA games might push it, especially with VRAM limits. If things get rough, you can always lower the resolution or settings. Just keep in mind that 1440p is becoming the standard, and investing in that now could pay off later.

Your GPU currently runs most games well at 1440p, but I have my doubts about whether 8GB will hold up in the long run. Some 1080p games are starting to exceed that VRAM limit even at high settings. Just keep adjusting your settings to find a sweet spot where you get nice performance.

It really depends on the games you play. The 9060 XT can handle most games at 1440p, but some might need you to dial down the settings a bit or use upscaling. In a few years, you might find that more demanding titles could be a challenge, so keep that in mind when you decide.

Got it, sounds like I might need to look for a better GPU if I want to stick to 1440p long-term. Thanks!

Honestly, I’d recommend sticking with 1080p for fast-paced games. The 8GB VRAM can get consumed quickly at 1440p. There’s an interesting Hardware Unboxed comparison that shows how this GPU stacks against a 16GB version across resolutions. Might be worth looking into before you decide.

I mainly play Elden Ring and CS, but the cheapest 16GB I found is way out of my budget at 420 euros.
