Can SVG Files Infect My Computer Without Being Opened?

Hey everyone, I got some files through Google Drive and didn't realize a couple of them were SVG files until I accidentally dragged them into Premiere Pro. I deleted them right away without actually opening them, but I'm a bit paranoid now and unsure if they could have done anything to my computer. I don't really know the source of these files either. Is there a chance my computer could be infected even though I didn't open the SVG files? I'm currently running a full scan with Windows Defender just to be safe.

SVG files can run JavaScript, but typically they're not harmful. Unless you explicitly opened the file or ran a script from it, your chances of infection are pretty low.

SVG files are just a type of image, meant for vector graphics. I'm curious why you're worried. What made you think it might be a problem?

If I'm right, they can execute HTML code and lead to phishing sites or something.
