Can’t Connect to DNS Server on My PC After GPU Change

I've got a bit of a tech issue. I swapped out my GPU from a 3080 to a 9800XT, and ever since then, my 6GHz Wi-Fi has been acting up. I kept getting an error about not being able to reach the DNS server. Luckily, the 5GHz band still worked, so it wasn't a total loss.

However, after moving my PC around a bit, I'm now completely unable to connect to any networks—none of them can reach the DNS server. I've tried just about everything I can think of: restarting the network adapter, resetting the network, using public DNS options like 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8, uninstalling and reinstalling the network adapter, updating drivers, testing my old adapter, switching Wi-Fi channels (2.5 and 5), even using my phone's hotspot, and moving a mesh access point to an Ethernet connection. Nothing seems to work.

I'm running out of ideas and am considering a fresh Windows install, but I'm really hesitant to do that since I have a lot of important data that isn't backed up. Any suggestions on how to get my internet back on this PC?

First off, sorry to hear about the trouble! Since you've already tried a lot, I’d like to suggest checking your router's DHCP settings. It’s worth making sure the IP address range isn’t exhausted or conflicting. Also, having AMD Ryzen 7 could be relevant—some users reported network issues related to certain chipset drivers after GPU changes. Maybe try updating those as well. Lastly, if all else fails, consider running a network troubleshooter from the Windows settings; it sometimes identifies issues automatically!

Good shout on checking DHCP! Sometimes, a simple reboot of the router can clear up these hiccups too. Don't forget to back up that data, just in case!
