Childcare Options for Attending AWS re:Invent with a Baby?

Hi everyone! I'm planning to attend AWS re:Invent in Las Vegas and will be bringing my 5-month-old baby, who is exclusively breastfed. I noticed that while they have lactation rooms available, babies aren't allowed in them, and under-18s can't enter the venue at all, even in a carrier. I'm hoping to hear from anyone who has attended this conference before and figured out childcare solutions. Thanks in advance for any tips!

Honestly, I get where you're coming from wanting to attend, but have you considered staying home and catching the sessions online? Conferences like this usually post recordings, and you'll likely spend more time navigating the venue than actually in sessions. Plus, leaving your baby with a stranger can be nerve-wracking! Maybe this year isn't the right time for you and your little one?

I’m with you on that! It’s a hassle for sure.

Five months is really young for traveling without some help. We used local babysitting services when we traveled for a wedding and it worked out well. You might want to check with your hotel to see if they have any recommendations for trusted babysitters in the area.

I haven't arranged childcare for an event like this, but if you have a family member or friend who could join you, that might be easier than hiring someone unfamiliar. It's a great way to balance parenting and your desire to attend the conference!

Exactly what I’ve been thinking! I'm even paying for my mom to come but she’s not thrilled about visiting Vegas!

Honestly, I don't think a baby is going to enjoy that environment, and it might be best to do the event virtually this year. Just a thought!
