Choosing Between AM4 and AM5 Builds for Gaming

I'm trying to decide between two PC builds: one with an AMD AM4 socket and another with an AM5 socket. The AM4 build is linked here: [AM4 Build](https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/bMdZnp) and the AM5 build is here: [AM5 Build](https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/sXpCBq). I plan to use this setup primarily for playing Valorant, and I'm noticing a price difference of about £130 between the two options. I'm also curious if 1x16GB of RAM will be sufficient for Valorant with the AM5 build since I really want to avoid spending a lot on a 32GB DDR5 setup given the current prices. Are there any parts in these builds that you think I should consider swapping out?

Check out this build instead: [New Build](https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/y2c8h7). Just a heads up, the B850 Gaming WiFi6e only supports PCIe 4.0, but most B850 boards are PCIe 5.0. In terms of FPS, the performance drop could be minimal—maybe just 0 to 10 FPS depending on the game.

Good point! But won't I need a second stick of RAM to hit 32GB eventually? If I buy it later, will I still be good?

But isn't the 9600X a better choice for Valorant since it relies more on the CPU?

If you're looking at the performance, the 5800X is going to give you a slight edge over the 9600X. Going with the AM5 setup will provide better future-proofing, and you can always add another 16GB RAM kit later when prices drop. Also, consider upgrading to a better GPU, like a 16GB version; spending an extra $100-$150 could extend the lifespan of your graphics card.

I was wondering about that too! Is it true the 5800X gives higher FPS? I plan on adding more RAM when it's cheaper, but is 1x16GB okay for Valorant? I thought the CPU was more crucial for this game.

Actually, that's not correct. The 9600X has a performance edge over the 5800X, especially in CPU-heavy situations!
