I'm currently putting together an AM5 PC that will mostly be used for playing Cyberpunk 2077, and I'm trying to figure out the best CPU for the job. I've been looking at various AMD CPUs, especially the X3D series that everyone seems to rave about. How much of an impact does the extra L3 cache have on performance? Is it worth prioritizing this over having more cores, especially since I also want to use the PC for compiling code? I'm also trying to keep my entire build under €1,000, so any suggestions would be appreciated!

Honestly, if you're aiming for budget-friendly options, the 9600X or 7700 should serve you well for Cyberpunk. It's mainly reliant on the GPU for performance, so save some cash for a better graphics card. Just curious, what GPU are you thinking of?
If your budget allows, going for the 9800X3D is a great choice! The X3D series definitely packs a punch because of that extra L3 cache. It really helps with gaming performance, particularly in demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077. But if you're tight on cash, you might want to consider the 9600X or the 7700 instead since Cyberpunk is more GPU-bound. Just make sure to pair it with a solid graphics card!
I appreciate the input! Just to clarify, I really want to stay under €1k for everything including the GPU.
I'm looking at getting a 5060 Ti, although I may have to pick a cheaper option if my budget gets too tight.
