Comparing RX 9070 and RTX 5070 for a New Gaming PC

I'm building a new gaming PC paired with a 7800X3D CPU, which I believe should handle the processing well. However, I'm torn between the RX 9070, which is priced at $767 USD in my region, and the RTX 5070, which is going for $705 USD. I've done a bit of research, and while I understand the RX 9070 has more VRAM, I'm not sure if that's a significant factor for me. I aim to game at 240Hz on a 1080p monitor or 180Hz on a 1440p display. What's your take on which GPU would be better for my setup?

Honestly, the RX 9070 is the clear winner here. It’s about 10% faster and comes with 33% more VRAM, which makes it a no-brainer unless you specifically need Nvidia's productivity features or primarily play esports titles.

Both options are solid, but if you only want the GPU for gaming, go for something like the 5070 Ti or stick with the RX 9070. The CPU's effect on gameplay tends to be minimal these days.

If it were me, I'd lean towards the RTX 5070 for the Nvidia features and software support. That said, the RX 9070 performs about 10% better on average at 1440p. But honestly, both cards feel overpriced in many regions. I snagged the 5070 for around $525 with a game bundle, while the 9070 was pushing $650-$700 here. I've had no issues with VRAM or performance at 1440p or even 4K.

Exactly, pricing really depends on where you live. What seems overpriced in one place may not be in another.

Just curious, how much is the 4080 in your locale? It offers about 4% better performance than the 5070 Ti and around 20% better than the 9070 XT, handling games like BF6 at 1440p with ease. Just food for thought!

The 4080 is super pricey where I am, though. Just not an option for me.

You should definitely check benchmarks for the specific games you plan on playing. Some might perform better on one card than the other.
