Hey everyone, I recently got a new PC built by a local builder, but I'm pretty worried about the CPU temperatures. When idle, it sits around 65°C, and while playing Battlefield 6, it spikes to 96°C. The game runs smoothly with great FPS, but that temperature makes me uneasy, especially since I'm gaming in a cold room. My setup includes an RTX 5090, an MSI 360mm ARGB AIO cooler, and a Deepcool 4F ARGB case. Currently, I have one exhaust fan at the back, the AIO's radiator as exhaust on top, and three side fans that I believe are also exhaust. I'm considering either buying a bigger case with better fans or getting a new AIO altogether. I thought about reversing the side fans, but what do you all think? Thanks for any advice!

A 65°C idle temperature for a 9950X3D is definitely concerning. First, make sure that the cooling block of the AIO is seated properly on the CPU and that there's enough thermal paste applied. Those temps are not ideal; you might need to troubleshoot the cooling setup a bit more.
So, I opened up the case today and found that there was actually plastic between the AIO and CPU! After removing it, my temps are now around 70°C while gaming and idle at about 50°C. Much better!
Those temps are not acceptable at all! You should change the three side fans to be intake for better airflow. Also, check if the AIO has any issues, like leftover plastic on the cooling block. Reapplying thermal paste could really help.
You asked if 96°C while gaming is a problem—yes, that's way too high! With an AIO like yours, I would expect no more than 75°C. It sounds like there might be a problem with the AIO pump or its contact with the CPU. Definitely check that out.
I noticed that even with only 40% CPU usage in COD, it hit 96°C; that seems really off. I ordered new thermal paste to give it a try today, hopefully, that fixes things!
