I'm currently using Windows 11 and am thinking about moving to Linux. My only experience with Linux was installing Puppy on an old laptop from 2002, so I'm kind of a beginner. I know Python, which might help. I'm looking for advice on a gaming-friendly Linux distribution and also want to know what common programs I might miss out on after switching. Lastly, I want to evaluate how difficult this transition might be, on a scale from simple plug-and-play to something far more complicated.

You'll miss some big names like Adobe Suite, MS Office, and a few games from EA and Riot. But don't worry too much; you can check compatibility on ProtonDB for gaming, or look into alternatives for software you can't run. Just keep in mind not all games work flawlessly on Linux, so make sure to check first!

What about Need for Speed games? Will they run on Linux?
