Hey guys! I'm ready to transition from Windows 11 Pro to Linux. I'm a total beginner but prioritize stability, smooth performance, and the ability to customize the user interface extensively. I'm currently caught between Linux Mint and Debian 12 with KDE Plasma and would love your recommendations based on my hardware specifications:
- Laptop: HP EliteBook 840 G7
- Processor: i5-10210U
- RAM: 16 GB
- Storage: 512 GB SSD
I'm looking for something that works well out of the box but still provides plenty of options for tweaking the UI. Any suggestions or experiences you could share with these distros on similar hardware would be super helpful!

You can’t go wrong with either choice, but Debian might be a bit less user-friendly for beginners. Maybe check out Ubuntu LTS if you want something stable and user-friendly. It still allows a good amount of customization, and you'll have a solid community behind you.
