I'm thinking about moving to Linux, but as a gamer, I have some concerns. I currently own a couple of Steam games like Tiny Tina's Wonderlands and Final Fantasy VIII, plus a large collection of console ROMs (about 32.1 GB) that I play using Retrobat. I've also got some games from FreeGOGPCGames.com, Monty Python games from The Collection Chamber, and others from various sources. I don't own an external hard drive; just a 32 GB thumb drive. Here are my PC specs:
- CPU: i5-7400, 4 cores, 4 threads (3.00 GHz)
- GPU: GTX 1050Ti
- RAM: 32 GB DDR4 (2400MHz)
- Storage: 2 TB SATA HDD
Given these specs, I'd love some advice on the following:
1. Which Linux distro would be best for my setup?
2. Is dual booting a practical option to help me transition without having to redownload everything?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

Dual booting is definitely an option! You can shrink your HDD to create a separate partition for Linux. A lot of people suggest going with an easy-to-use distro like Linux Mint for your first experience. You don't need something super complex—that can just lead to bootloader issues.

I thought dual booting would help me avoid having to move everything from Windows to Linux since I don’t have an external hard drive.
