Cost Estimate for Building a Small Real Estate Website

Hey everyone! I'm a frontend developer with experience creating websites from scratch for past clients. Now, I have a small client looking for a budget-friendly option to create a mini website for showcasing a recently renovated building in Lisbon, which includes five apartments for sale. I'm considering using website builders instead of coding from scratch. I'd love your advice and a rough cost estimate for this project.

Here's what I'm looking for:
- A very clean and simple design
- A few pages, probably including:
- Project overview
- Photo gallery
- Plans (with a link to PDFs)
- Pricing info
- Location/map
- Contact page with a form
- The site needs to be available in three languages (likely English, French, and Portuguese)
- An easy way for the client to edit content like photos and prices

I'm trying to figure out:
- What platform would offer the best quality for the price? (Webflow? Framer? Squarespace? Something else?)
- What's a realistic budget range for a project like this?
- Any advice on potential issues with setting up a multilingual site on these platforms?

Thanks a lot for your help!

For simplicity and control, I'd recommend using WordPress. This option allows flexibility, and you can host it anywhere without being tied to a specific platform. You expect to spend around $2,000 to $3,000, depending on your rates and how quickly you work. Keep in mind; you'll also need to factor in who provides graphics and content.

A small tip from my experience: instead of just selling a website, focus on selling communication. Help your clients convey their message effectively, and they’ll appreciate your support, leading to possible referrals in the future!

Using a website builder for a small project like this is totally sensible. I think Webflow gives a great mix of design quality and flexibility, especially for easily editable content. I’d ballpark the budget around €1,500 to €3,000 with a builder. Just be mindful of handling translations to avoid duplicate content issues. Going down the coding route for this wouldn’t be the best move, in my opinion!

For a straightforward HTML page, I’d estimate around $500. If the client wants some interactive elements or a database, that could jump up to around $1,700 plus annual costs for hosting and maintenance.

A good rule of thumb is to clearly define everything in the contract to avoid extra costs down the line. If anything goes beyond expectations, expect charges of $500 or more for additional work. Also, in the restaurant industry, they often triple prices for services, so don’t be afraid to value your work! Just for comparison, a fully developed website could easily end up at $7,500 for the frontend and additional costs for backend services and maintenance. This mini project sounds like a great opportunity to show what you can do on the cheaper side!

$500 seems like a reasonable starting point for such a project!
