Hey everyone, I've been wondering if not having my motherboard cable fully connected for about 6 months could cause any problems in the long run. I think I've resolved it, but I want to know if leaving it loose could have damaged anything. When I first built my PC, I had to push hard on the cable to get it to power on sometimes. Lately, I unplugged and replugged the 24-pin cable from the PSU, and now it powers on instantly without any issues. I'm just curious if there could be any unknown problems that might arise from that loose connection, considering it was like that for so long. Did I manage to fix it?

It's great that you managed to reseat the cable! Having that 24-pin connector loose for an extended time can lead to power issues, but since your PC is running fine now, it sounds like you fixed the immediate problem. Just keep an eye on it—if it starts acting up again, you might want to check for signs of damage or dust in the connectors.
Leaving the cable loose could have potentially caused some instability, but since your PC is running smoothly now, you may have dodged a bullet! Just be vigilant—if you notice any weird noises or shutdowns, it could be a sign to investigate further. Otherwise, it sounds like you’re in the clear!

Exactly! Keeping the connections clean and snug is key. Sometimes, a loose cable can even cause intermittent power issues, which can be frustrating. If you keep experiencing problems, consider checking all your connections.
