I recently replaced my very old power supply with a new MSI MAG A650GL 650W model and used all new cables. After switching it on, I found that I couldn't boot into my Arch Linux system anymore, even when selecting it from the boot menu. In the BIOS, both my Windows SSD and Arch HDD are detected, but I can only boot into Windows. When I tried to reinstall GRUB, I received "ATA" errors, indicating there might be an issue with the hard disk. After multiple attempts to recover Arch, my Windows installation also failed—I'm not sure if that's connected to my recovery efforts or if it's an SSD issue. So, what should I consider next? If I buy a new SSD, will it be at risk too? I'm also looking at getting a modern motherboard to allow for an NVMe SSD installation. Is that the right move?

It sounds like there might be a possibility that your old motherboard couldn't handle the new PSU's power delivery. When you mention a "modern" motherboard, it makes me think that your old one might have been on its last legs, and the power upgrade could have caused issues. It's also possible that something went wrong during the installation.
Have you tried unplugging and re-plugging the SATA power and data cables? Sometimes, just a simple connection issue can cause these kinds of problems.
