I recently came across my father's second-hand phone, which was previously owned by an Intelligence Officer from India. This officer recommended that my father keep a mechanical sticker on the phone, claiming it reduces harmful "radiations". However, ever since my father started using it, his WhatsApp has been hacked, strange apps are installing themselves, and he's facing random ads popping up in system apps. I'm wondering if this sticker could be responsible for the problems, or is my father just imagining things?

I don’t care what the previous owner said; if he believes in that sticker's magic, then I’d question his intelligence. It's just nonsense, plain and simple.
That sticker is just a scam and won't protect against anything. Just take it off, and I’m pretty sure your dad isn’t hacked; he might just be unknowingly installing apps during updates. Wipe that phone clean to be safe!
I've seen that sticker before, and some people say they actually can be harmful themselves. I read somewhere that they might even have radioactive material inside, but who knows if that's true or just a troll comment. Regardless, I’d suggest getting rid of it.
Just a heads up—if your dad's phone is showing ads out of nowhere, it might be a Redmi phone. A friend had the same experience with hers. I helped her disable intrusive apps and revoke permissions, and it made a difference.
Honestly, that sticker sounds like a gimmick to me. I wouldn't trust it at all; it might be time to wipe the phone and install a different operating system. It's probably just a hoax and doesn't do anything significant.
Yeah, I remember when cell phones first came out, there were tons of these stickers claiming to block "harmful waves." It's mostly for gullible folks. Just wipe the phone and start fresh.

That's a scary thought! Just get rid of it. If it can be tracked or is harmful, it's definitely not worth keeping!
