Could changing the thermal paste fix my CPU throttling issues?

I'm experiencing high CPU temperatures with my system, idling around 50°C and hitting 80-100°C during gaming. I've ruled out dust build-up since I clean my PC every two weeks, and nothing is overclocked at the moment. My setup includes an i9 12900K, ROG STRIX Z690-A, and a Galahad 360 cooler. Over the last few months, I've noticed the high temperatures, but they've recently peaked at 100°C, leading to bad frame rates. Even after reverting a Windows update, my CPU is still throttling.

Changing the thermal paste is definitely a smart move! It’s the easiest and cheapest fix. While you’re at it, don’t forget to check your cooler’s fans and overall setup. When was the last time you replaced the paste?

I built the system about 3 years ago and haven’t changed it since. I was going to do it before posting but can't find the new paste, so I’ll need to buy some.
