Hey all! I'm looking for any feedback or criticism on my current PC build. I haven't opened any of the components yet, so I can still make changes if needed. Here's what I've got assembled so far:
- Ryzen 9 9950x3d
- MSI 5090 OC Gaming Trio
- ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E Motherboard
- G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo (AMD Expo) DDR5 RAM 64GB 6000MT/s CL30-40-40-96
- TEAMGROUP T-Force Z540 2TB DRAM Gen5x4 M.2 2280 (for OS and storage)
- TEAMGROUP T-Force Z540 4TB DRAM Gen5x4 M.2 2280 (for extra storage)
- CORSAIR RM1000e (2025) ATX Power Supply with 12V-2x6 port ATX 3.1 & PCIe 5.1
- NZXT H5 Flow ATX Mid-Tower Case (older version)
- NZXT Kraken Elite 280 RGB AIO Cooler
- 2 front 140mm intake fans (hitting the AIO first) and 1 bottom 120mm fan (facing the GPU)
- 3 exhaust 120mm fans (two on top and one at the back)
Would appreciate any thoughts on this setup. Cheers!

Maybe reconsider that e-series PSU?
What are you planning to use this PC for? It seems like you're spending quite a bit on components that might not boost performance significantly. But hey, with a 5090, I guess you’re okay with that!
Can you clarify which parts you think won't help speed? I read that the 9800x3d performs similarly for gaming, and the 5090 seems a bit overpriced compared to the 4090 super.
Mainly for work and gaming. I did consider the 9800x3d but wanted to be able to handle heavier workloads. I know value is tricky right now, but with how prices are changing, I figured I'd go for something that might hold its value.
Think about using Gen 4 drives unless you're doing heavy video editing or handling large files. They’re usually more affordable for the same storage capacity. Also, I'd be cautious with the Asus ROG – they can be pricey and their customer service isn't top-notch.
Everything seems compatible! I could point out some expensive parts, but it looks like you went for top-tier quality, so you're probably not too worried about saving a few bucks anyway.
I did want to save where I could, but after seeing the 5090 launch prices and shortages on AMD stuff, I opted to really future proof my build.
What would you suggest instead?
