Could I Get Some Feedback on My PC Parts List?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to build my first PC and could really use your input on the parts I've chosen. I got a bit spontaneous and copied a build from a website, and now I'm questioning if it's all going to work out. I still have time to return parts if needed.

Here's the situation: I live in the USA and while I have a budget of around $2000, I'm open to adjustments if it means getting better performance. My main uses will be music production, some gaming, and doing computations in Python, so I need something that's reliable and will last me a couple of years without needing upgrades.

I've been using a DAW called Reaper for music production, and I need a setup that can handle a few heavier plugins without too much latency. My gaming is generally casual, mainly focused on indie games, but I'd love to run some heavier titles like Cyberpunk at decent settings without issues.

The build I followed includes an exception: I opted for a 2TB 990 EVO SSD instead of 1TB for music storage. I'm a little worried about the motherboard I selected, as I've heard ASRock has had some issues.

I would really appreciate any sanity checks or suggestions on what I might need to improve, especially regarding the CPU and GPU choices. Thanks for taking a look!

Your build seems well-suited for your needs! If you're considering future-proofing, I’d recommend looking into the Ryzen 7800X3D for better single-core performance, which is great for running VSTs. Alternatively, the Ryzen 7 9700X would give you more cores, which can be beneficial for scalability in projects. Just ensure you keep the buffer size low for minimal latency! As for the GPU, going for an equivalent Nvidia card could help with your physics calculations and gaming. If you think your gaming needs might grow, that definitely makes sense too!

Thanks a lot! I appreciate the advice. I had no idea more cores would help with my music production. Thinking about the Nvidia GPUs now, seems like a solid option!

I took a look at your parts list and I think going with the Ryzen 7 9700X along with an Nvidia 5070 could be a great combo for what you need. Also, consider having two SSDs: use the 990 Pro for your OS and programs, while storing your projects and games on the 990 EVO. This setup should give you a good balance between speed and storage for your music production work.

Good idea! I hadn’t thought of spreading the load across two SSDs. Thanks for the suggestion, it sounds like a smart way to optimize performance!
