I'm worried that I may have gotten a virus on my computer after downloading a game from a certain website. There's a feature that claims to block fake versions of the site by preventing their connection, and I clicked that, thinking it wouldn't cause major issues. Ever since then, I've noticed some strange behavior.
First, my Brave browser was completely reset; it logged me out of everything, deleted all my bookmarks, cookies, and history, and even opened a thank you page unexpectedly. Since Brave doesn't have an account system, I've lost important info.
Secondly, my network has been acting up, randomly connecting and disconnecting. I ran Malwarebytes, and it came back clean, as did Windows Defender. I checked the Task Manager but didn't see anything unusual—just standard Windows processes. I even ran AdwCleaner to get rid of anything it might've found. Even though I didn't notice significant performance issues, no popups, or anything suspicious, the whole browser situation feels really off. Am I just being paranoid?
Also, if I decide to do a clean reinstall of Windows, can I do that without wiping my files? I don't have a backup drive but need some files from my computer.

It sounds like you’re overthinking things a bit, but I get why you’re concerned. That browser wipe is definitely odd, though. If you think you might have used a sketchy site, it can’t hurt to ask around in dedicated forums for that game or site to see if others had similar experiences. They might help clarify whether it was legit or not.
Was that site f*tgirl or d*di repacks? I’ve heard that some sites have similar features. Just make sure to stick to official sources in the future; it’s safer!
Yeah, it was ftg. Seems like it’s a bit sketchy. Thanks for the heads up!

I double-checked the link I used, and I’m sure it was the right site. This was the first time I saw that blocking feature, and it feels really suspicious now. I reported the build too, but who knows if that helps.
