Could My Phone Have a Virus After Seeing a Scary Popup?

I recently opened a mobile game called FruitMerge and saw a pop-up that claimed my Android phone (a Samsung) had 19 viruses. It urged me to click a link to the Google Play Store, but I didn't want to risk anything. Instead, I just cleared my cookies in Chrome and ran a scan with AVG antivirus, which showed no issues. Now I'm wondering if I should be concerned or if that popup was just a scare tactic. I've also visited sites like redgifs and occasionally clicked some ads on mobile games and Duolingo, but I've always cleared my cookies afterwards. What do you think?

That pop-up is just a common ad! They're designed to create panic and trick you into clicking links or downloading potentially harmful apps. Since you ran a scan with AVG and it came back clean, you're likely in the clear. Just keep being cautious and avoid clicking on suspicious ads.

So, are you saying it was basically a scam to scare me? That's good to know!
