A lot of folks recommend going for the AM5 platform for longevity and upgrade support. Just keep in mind that your choice of CPU and motherboard should reflect how you plan to use the machine.
I’m mostly a software engineer but enjoy gaming on the side. I don’t mind AMD, but I've always preferred Intel.
