Hey everyone! I just built a new Intel PC over the weekend, and I'm running into some memory-related crashes while gaming. I've updated the BIOS and ME firmware, and I've enabled both 200S Boost and XMP settings. However, it seems that the processor can't handle the overclock from 200S, as I'm still experiencing crashes even after tuning the RAM down to 7800. When I turn off 200S and set XMP to 8000, everything runs smoothly. It feels like my setup should be able to handle 200S without issues, so I'm wondering if I'm just out of luck or if 200S has known problems. The crashes mostly happen while playing Arc Raiders, and I've also encountered an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION error on a Chrome page. Here's a quick rundown of my build: Core Ultra 9 285K, Asus ROG Maximums Hero Z890, 48GB GSkill Trident Z5 DDR5-8000, RTX 5080 FE, Seasonic Prime TX-1300, and a Samsung 990 M2 SSD. Any thoughts?

From what I can tell, 200S Boost is essentially an overclock, even if it's sanctioned by the company. While they might guarantee it under warranty, pushing the silicon beyond rated performance can lead to increased failure rates. It's not unusual for some processors to just not handle those boosts well — it really is a silicon lottery after all!

Would it make sense to consider getting another CPU? I mean, there's a chance I might end up with one that doesn't perform as well.
