Hey everyone! I'm about to get a new PC and I'm definitely steering clear of Windows 11—it's Linux all the way for me! I've tinkered with Fedora, Ubuntu, and Debian, and Debian really stood out to me. However, I keep hearing about Arch and its derivatives like CachyOS.
Here's the thing: I've got a decent understanding of Linux basics (I can navigate the command line, even if I'm more familiar with Windows' CMD). My goal is to have a stable system that performs well without needing constant upkeep. I'm a bit worried that Arch might require too much maintenance or be too complex for me.
I haven't nailed down which desktop environment I want yet. I like the look of GNOME, but I'm not set on it yet. I plan to use this machine primarily for programming (game and web development), Blender, and some gaming. Most of my games should be fine on either platform, but I'm curious about which would work better overall.

As a CachyOS user, I’ve had a smooth experience since switching a few months back. It’s not necessarily beginner-friendly, but if you’re comfortable with documentation, you’ll manage just fine!
Why not consider using both? I personally run Debian for stability and CachyOS for gaming. It gives you the best of both worlds!
Are you comfortable using the command line extensively? Arch is best for those who enjoy tweaking and digging into system management. If you just want a straightforward setup, Debian or an Ubuntu flavor would be better.

Fedora strikes a pretty great balance between Debian and Arch. It's stable, up-to-date, and somewhat easier to maintain than Arch. If you're looking for something reliable and still fairly current, give Fedora a shot!
I tried Fedora before, but I ran into a snag with an enterprise account or something like that, so I had to let it go.
