I'm new to the Linux world and trying to decide between Arch and Mint for my first installation. My only experience has been using Linux on my Steam Deck. I've read about both distros, but I'm struggling to commit to one.
Mint is known for being beginner-friendly, which attracts me, but I'm also fascinated by how much customization Arch offers. My main concern is if I start with Mint, I might still want to switch to Arch later, and I worry about losing my data during that transition.
As someone who isn't very experienced with programming, should I just go for Arch now or take it easy with Mint?

If you're new to Linux, I'd recommend starting with Mint. Spend a month or two getting used to the Linux desktop, and then if you feel the need, you can always switch to Arch later. To make things easier for a future switch, consider using a separate partition for your /home directory to keep your settings safe between distros!
I agree with starting with Mint! Plus, you can try it out using a LIVE-USB version without committing right away. It's a great way to test the waters!
