Hey folks, I'm thinking about upgrading my GPU, but I'm a bit stuck on which model to choose. My budget is tight, and I want to ensure I'm making the right choice for the future. Here's what I have for my current setup: an Intel Core i7-12700K CPU, Gigabyte Z690 UD AX motherboard, 32GB of Kingston FURY BEAST RGB DDR5 RAM, and a 750W Gold PSU.
I'm considering the RX 9070 XT, and I've narrowed it down to two models at similar price points: the Sapphire Pulse and the ASUS Prime OC Edition.
Here are my main concerns:
1. Which of these models is safer for my PSU? I've heard the ASUS Prime is OC Edition. Will my 750W Gold PSU handle it well, or should I stick to the Sapphire for safety?
2. Is there any downside to pairing an AMD GPU with my Intel CPU?
3. Given my budget, is the upgrade to the 9070 XT really worth it compared to the RTX 4070 Super?
4. Is my i7-12700K still capable enough for these cards?
I'm aiming for a significant performance boost for upcoming games like Battlefield 6 and ARC Raiders. Thanks for your insights!

The OC Edition isn't anything special and is mainly marketing hype. I'd go with the Sapphire Pulse or whatever RX 9070 XT you can find for cheaper. As for mixing Intel and AMD, no real issues there if gaming is your focus. As for choosing between the 9070 XT and the RTX 4070 Super, I wouldn't find the performance jump significant enough to justify the extra cost. Your i7-12700K is still more than capable for these GPUs, especially if you do a little overclocking with your setup.
The ASUS RX 9070 XT OC is overclocked slightly, but it might not make a noticeable difference in real-world usage. The Pulse is known for being one of the quieter options. You should definitely consider the 9070 XT over the 4070 Super, especially if you already have a 3070 Ti; the 9070 XT will provide a better upgrade path.
The ASUS model has a bit more performance out of the box, but it recommends a minimum of 850W PSU. If you choose the Sapphire Pulse, your 750W will be sufficient. If your PSU is of high quality, you might be fine with either card, but the Sapphire could give you some peace of mind regarding stability.
So if I go with the Sapphire, I could potentially overclock it for extra performance, right?
In terms of PSU safety, you should be good with either card, but I’d recommend the Sapphire model for its beefier cooler and better customer service. Also, regarding Intel and AMD compatibility, there shouldn’t be any issues pairing them. As for the performance gain, the RX 9070 XT offers about a 20-25% improvement over your current GPU for that price, which may not be worth it if funds are tight.
Thanks! So you think my current 3070 Ti is still a solid card for my needs?

That's really helpful, thanks! So, the 9070 XT really seems like the better choice for me.
