Why Can’t I Download Fortnite to My USB Drive?

I'm trying to download Fortnite to my USB drive, which has 500GB of free space, but I'm getting an error saying there's not enough space. The drive is formatted in exFAT and doesn't have anything else on it aside from the Fortnite file. What could be causing this issue?

Have you tried quick formatting the USB drive? Sometimes when you delete files, the drive doesn't reallocate that space correctly. A quick format might fix that and allow you to download Fortnite without any issues.

Yeah, I would recommend trying that first. It often helps with storage recognition problems.

Before anything, make sure you're actually using an exFAT format and not FAT32. FAT32 has a 4GB limit per file, which could definitely cause a downloading problem. Also, if you're using a drive that was purchased from a discount site, it might be a fake that claims to have more storage than it really does.

You should check the S.M.A.R.T stats of the drive if it's an SSD. Failing drives can sometimes let you upload files but won't allow downloads. Also, using disk manager to check how it's partitioned can offer insights into what's going wrong.
