Hey everyone, I'm having a bit of a problem after mistakenly deleting some folders that I thought were unnecessary. They had weird names, and I was trying to free up space. I also removed some older Visual C++ Redistributables because I figured I didn't need the 2008 version if I had the newer ones from 2015-2022. Now, some of my Steam games won't load properly. Some try to start but just close immediately, while others let me in but reload to the continue page when I click on it. I've tried restarting my PC, restoring from a backup, but the only backup I have is from after I deleted the files. I've even reinstalled Steam, my games, and Windows 10, but now I'm getting a missing vcruntime140_1.dll error. I installed the Visuals and tried putting the DLL file in the Windows 32 folder and the Steam folder, but that didn't help. I attempted to recover the files using Recuva, but all I got were damaged files or ones with odd names. I'm really lost as to what to do next. (And sorry if my English isn't great, it's not my first language!)

Do you remember where those deleted files were located? It might be worth doing a repair install instead. That sometimes helps without losing your stuff.
Also check your Program Files folder; some important files could be there.
It sounds like you really need to reinstall Windows again if you're still having issues. It might fix the missing DLL errors and get your games up and running again!
I actually already reinstalled Windows once, and it didn’t help.

I mostly just deleted things from my Documents folder whenever I didn’t recognize them.
