Hey folks! I was browsing a post about this pomodoro timer app called Studo when I came across a button that said "install app for phone." I clicked it, thinking it would send me to the app store, but it just started downloading something! I freaked out, hit back a bunch of times, and checked my files for anything suspicious, but I found nothing. I've run antivirus scans with my built-in software and Avast, plus Malwarebytes, and they all say I'm good. Is there a way to be absolutely sure my phone isn't infected? Appreciate any insights!

If you’re using an Android, go to your browser, find the downloads section (usually under the menu in the top right). If you don’t see anything there, then it probably didn’t download anything actually. Also, check your files app to make sure there’s nothing in the downloads folder. And remember, simply downloading something isn’t usually harmful unless you actually install it, so I wouldn’t worry too much!
Where did you even download it from? I went to studo.com and all the links were for the app stores. The app looks legit, so if you downloaded it from the official sources, you should be alright. If you're still worried after scanning, a factory reset can help clear things up, but usually, you should be good if the scans came back clean.
The website I visited was studo.space. You’re right, a reset might be the best way to ease my concerns. Thanks for the tip!
If you want peace of mind, the safest option is to format your phone. There’s a chance that if something malicious did download, it could have left hidden copies. It's better to be safe! But chances are, if you didn’t install anything, you’re likely fine.
That makes sense! I think I’ll go ahead and format my phone just to be safe. Thanks for your help!
I checked both the browser downloads and the files app, and found nothing. Thanks for the reassurance!
