Do I Need a PCIe 5.0 Riser for My Upcoming GPU?

I'm planning to get a new 5080 GPU for my Taichi x870e motherboard, which supports PCIe 5.0. However, I'm unsure if I need to buy a PCIe 5.0 riser or if a 4.0 riser would work. I've read that using a 4.0 riser might cause issues. Also, since I'm using the second PCIe slot on the motherboard, it seems to downgrade both to 4.0. If I do need a 5.0 riser, I would appreciate any recommendations for a good one, especially considering that I've found some around $50 on Amazon. Just to give you context, I'm using a Dark Base 701 case with an inverted layout, and I'd like to mount the GPU vertically to prevent sagging since it's longer than my current 1060.

Alternatively, if you're open to it, you could always switch your case back to a standard layout. It might seem like a hassle, but some people have found it easier than trying to work around the inverted setup.

Yeah, that’s a no-go for me! I specifically picked this case for that inverted feature.

You might want to consider getting a GPU sag bracket, like the Lian Li GB 001. It supports the card from both the top and the bottom, which should help a lot with stability.

That sounds pretty good! I could probably make something similar myself to save some cash.

One thing to note about using a 4.0 riser is that you might run into a black screen issue unless you change the BIOS settings to make sure that the slot operates in 4.0 mode. Otherwise, it might default to 5.0 and won't work stably with a 4.0 riser.
