Hey everyone! I just got my MSI 5080 Ventus 3x today, and I've got a be quiet! STRAIGHT POWER 11 Platinum 1200W power supply from 2020. The PCIe 2 output has two 8-pin connectors that were previously used for my old 3090. However, the MSI adapter needs three 8-pin connectors. Can I make do with just two, or do I really need to get a third one?

Thanks for the info, everyone! Just a heads up, after moving, I can't find my extra cables. I ordered three 12 to 8 pin cables online, but I'm a bit worried about compatibility.
Yeah, definitely check if those cables are from Be Quiet! or another reliable brand. You don't want to risk frying your components!
Doesn't that power supply have a good number of PCIe cables? You might be able to find the ones you lost or just buy the right ones. Just be careful about cable standards, though.
You'll definitely need all three connectors for the MSI 5080. That power supply should have come with PCIe cables that have multiple 8-pin connectors. Each one needs to be connected to ensure everything runs properly.
I agree, you absolutely need all three. Most 1200W power supplies provide several PCIe cables, so you should have what you need somewhere unless they went missing.

Be careful with those cables! Power supply cables aren't always universal, and using the wrong ones can cause issues. Make sure they are compatible with your PSU.
